Think College is a national initiative dedicated to developing, expanding, and improving research and practice in inclusive higher education for students with intellectual disability. It is based at the Institute for Community Inclusion, University of Massachusetts Boston. While in many cases, one of the goals of a comprehensive education is inclusion of all students of a particular age or grade level into the same classroom, at times some students’ needs are better served in a more focused setting.
In the past 15 years the number of career and technical programs in Oregon schools have been cut nearly in half. Now, the state is focusing on restoring those CTE programs to give students more. This article analyzed the work currently under way with regard to cognitive mapping of vocational students in Oregon community colleges. The primary focus of the study was to determine if the cognitive mapping efforts of selected Oregon community colleges were contributing to student success in vocational classes.
